Résumé

This article supports the hypothesis that Sibawayh is the father of Arabic rhétoric and criticism, and that his book "al Kitab" represents the cornerstones of these two Arab arts. For this purpose, we will follow the introduction of his book and will attempt to keeping track some notions that had important extensions in Arabic rhetoric and criticism.
